Halloween Entertaining: Go Glam with a Sophisticated Color Palette this Spooky Season

‘Twas the week before Halloween and the table was set!

Anyone else doing a little Halloween entertaining???  Can we talk about these plates?? I found them at Home Goods and fell in love. Half spooky…half glam…100% perfect.

They became my starting point for decorating EVERYTHING this Halloween. I know these plates are black and white, but somehow that floral design had me thinking immediately about a non-traditional color palette. Why limit your Halloween decor to orange and black? My whole house is colorful and I wanted to do something that would blend with my every day home vibe.

These green chargers are AMAZING. I added them to our wedding registry at Bloomingdales way back when and my hubs thought I was absolutely crazy.

“Aren’t they just plates that you aren’t allowed to put food on?” he asked.

Hmmm… well, yes, technically. But, like so many things that I add to our house, the correct answer is “Yes, but they are so pretty, and so we really need them.”

“But we will never use them,” he added. Wrong! I use them every special holiday. The green color is magical and goes with everything. It’s like The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants… but for chargers.

So if you are out there thinking about chargers, may I humbly suggest a sparkly, medium-toned green?

Time to break down the rest of the table. I purchased these dark brown round rattan placemats and LOVE them (another tabletop item that goes with EVERYTHING).

Placemat, charger, plate… the look was starting to come together.

I knew that I wanted to play up the gorgeous floral design on the plates. I found these amazing coral pink peony napkin rings. The possibilities here are endless. Of course they could be standout statement napkin rings for a springtime get together (I’m looking at you, Easter Sunday brunch!). But these would also be awesome tucked into little votives on my Fall table.

The soft peachy-orange and midnight hued crackle pumpkins caught my eye next! Just the right size for a table centerpiece and I love the muted colors with a hint of gold glitter.

Finally, I wanted candles… the perfect accent to any table, any season. Lanterns of different sizes and shapes add visual interest and warm gold is an elegant complement to green and coral.

One thing was still missing… a runner! Something to anchor it all. I spotted this beauty that looked like a silver spun spiderweb. Completely worked with my spooky glam theme. LOVE IT.

Plain black napkins and our colorful Laguiole flatware round out the look. I also borrowed the pink glassware from my mom. And there you have it! A table that says Halloween without falling back on a traditional orange and black color scheme.

Time to have friends over and enjoy!
