Happy Weekend friends! So much to share this week (a new outdoor photography exhibit, a completed client project, and some amazing stop and stare art!), so I am just going to get right into it!
First Up…
Yesterday afternoon, I took my son to Union Market for a socially distanced art adventure! We went to check out Celebrating Melanin – a new (completely outdoor) installation “showcasing the beauty, variety, interest and pride of Black heritage, as seen through the lens of 5 DMV photographers.” I’m going to write up a full post on this amazing photography exhibit hopefully sometime this week. In the meantime, I’ll share a sneak peak of our Friday afternoon fun in my stories over on the ‘gram.
In Case You Missed It…
I shared 2 NEW posts on the site this week! You guys know that I have been thinking A LOT about home office spaces recently. Whether you are transforming an entire room or simply reimagining the possibilities of a nook in your home, let’s get that space looking it’s best! In search of a new desk? Check out these 5 gorgeous options that are sure to boost your productivity. How about super affordable + inspirational art for your walls (you know, that something we could all use to get us going on a Monday morning!)? These motivational art prints by DC artist Reggie Black are exactly what your home office needs!
Shop the Art…
This week, I helped my client hang their new artwork… virtually! We hopped on a zoom together. The client had the hammer, level, and nails, and I talked them through every step! The result is absolutely stunning (see the featured image at the top of this post!). Want the look for your master bedroom? Get all the details and shop this gorgeous abstract landscape pair from Minted!
These colorful striped works by Libby Baxter are amazing in their gold frames against the backdrop of this deep blue wall! While her new works that dropped this week have already completely SOLD OUT (wow!), I will definitely be on watch for her next collection.
Stop and Stare…
Spotted this week on the ‘gram. Ever seen a piece of art that looks like it’s melting? This sculpture by Azerbaijani fiber artist Faig Ahmed is just AMAZING.
A must see… beautiful + haunting. Check out this updated take on Vermeer’s Girl with the Pearl Earring by Dutch artist Jenny Boot. I think Vermeer would approve!
Let Me Know…
Next week is the last full week of summer vacation before school starts back up again for many students! Are you all planning anything fun? We have done a ton of day trips this summer from our home base in Bethesda, MD (just outside of Washington DC). And we are trying to organize at least one more before the end of summer! Let me know, what’s your favorite place to visit that’s an easy drive from DC?
