DC Area Artist Tara Andris
Meet Tara! You may already recognize her name from my 2020 Holiday Ornament Giveaway on Instagram! She is a Maryland-based artist, who grew up wandering through DC’s many museums and galleries with her mom. She studied art history in college and launched her professional career as an artist in 2006.
Tara is known for painting gorgeous clouds and skies over a metal leaf backdrop. What’s metal leaf? Paper thin sheets of gold and silver. When Tara applies these sheets to canvas, panel, or paper, it creates a textured, shimmery surface that is absolutely stunning!!
Tara is known for other motifs in her work as well, including her orchid series and most recently, her crane series.
