A Fun and Welcoming Entryway

This client came to me after completing a whole house rebuild in Bethesda, MD. They had just moved back into their stunning new home and wanted to accomplish two main goals: 1) reframe and place several existing artworks and 2) select a statement piece of art for their new entryway. “Lauren, we are a family with 3 boys. Our house is full of energy, humor and pandemonium on most days! We want people to smile when they walk into our home and immediately get the mood. Let’s get them talking with a really fun piece of art that speaks to who we are as a family.”

I sourced this amazing original painting by Josh Brown, titled Three Gold Donkeys on White. The subject matter is fun and playful and the painterly details add sophistication and polish. If you look closely, the fur is highlighted with gold paint that catches the light in this entryway. We added a gorgeous custom medium-toned wood floater frame to complete the look. The sleek and contemporary framing adds a clean line around the canvas, defining the painting against the entryway’s crisp white wall.

Additionally, we installed this limited edition fine art print on canvas by Jess Franks in their dining room. I love the gallery wrap, meaning the image is wrapped around the sides of the canvas.

In the family room, which is open to the dining room, we found the perfect location for a small original painting that the clients already owned. I selected a sleek warm gold custom frame for this piece that really makes the artwork glow on the wall.

Finally, in the new home office, we decided to place another piece that the clients already owned. This painting also received fresh custom framing that immediately updated its look.

Across from the bookshelves, we installed two wood cut collages by Beth Munro. Simple and sleek gray framing paired with wide white matting gives these petite pieces a striking presence on the wall.

Lauren is thoughtful and thorough in her approach, and she is well connected to the artist community (whether they are new and emerging artists or more established artists and art galleries). Adding the artwork she selected elevated our space in a way I could not have achieved on my own.
